There are millions of people who had never heard of Vanessa Hudgens, star of the upcoming High School Musical 3, in 2006.
Although the actress was always super-popular among the Disney-viewing crowd, her fame hadn’t really translated to people outside her demographic.
That all changed in September of this year, when a privately taken but fairly innocuous nude photo turned up online. Suddenly the Disney star was cast into an enormous spotlight, and for quite embarrassing reasons.
However, Hudgens was contrite and quickly issued the following statement:
“I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me. I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends.”
The public quickly forgave her for the youthful indiscretion, and Disney recently signed her for the third movie in the High School Musical series.
However, Yahoo has compiled their 2007 list of what they refer to as the “top 10 troubled stars”, and Ms. Hudgens has made the list as the #4 most searched celeb.
She followed Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Anna Nicole Smith.
